Originally from Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, Cecilia Gutiérrez Hermosillo studied business administration at the Universidad del Valle de Atemajac. Her career in fashion design began at a very young age. Cecilia used to import clothes and sell them to her friends. It was there that she realized people’s tastes and desires, discovering the most attractive way to present and sell her products.
In 1989, she married Gilberto Nathal Sánchez, who had a manta clothing brand called Cotton Club. There, she began contributing ideas for design and color. Little by little, and self-taught, Cecilia started learning how to design and began collaborating with her husband.
In 1995, Cotton Club transformed into Cecilia Nathal®, marking the beginning of a new chapter in both Cecilia’s life and in fashion design. She changed people’s perception of cotton clothing and managed to win over the hearts of the Mexican market—something difficult to achieve, as the strongest market was abroad.
Avant-garde, fashion, and quality are the standards Cecilia upholds when creating a design. She has always committed to using only Mexican products in the making of her garments, which has attracted clients who have remained loyal to her designs for over 20 years.
In 2015, Simply Cotton® was born as a new proposal aimed at meeting the needs of a market that enjoys cotton clothing but does not necessarily want to wear it only at the beach. This new line provided the opportunity to create more outfits under the Cecilia Nathal® brand, with a different vision.
For Cecilia, it is important that the people who wear her designs feel comfortable and beautiful, regardless of their age or size.
